The Picture Book Project is an ongoing project created based on needs identified through participatory action research with educators, librarians and community members conducted by Dr. Sarah CB Norsworthy The Picture Book Project is a community resource and hub to celebrate and activate the power of Picture Books, particularly amongst adults.

Theory of Action

  • Teachers and Caregivers are adults first.
  • Teachers share Picture Books with children.
  • Caregivers share Picture Books with children.
  • We should deeply know the texts we share.
  • Teachers and Caregivers have expressed a need for places to explore Picture Books.
  • Culturally Sustaining Picture Books are valuable tools for Bridging to Belonging.
  • Adults experience increased feelings of belonging after talking with other adults about Culturally Sustaining Picture Books.

Therefore, spaces are needed where adults can discover, read and talk about Picture Books amongst ourselves.

We have so much to (dis) (un) (re) cover.
